OPEN: SUMOU’S PALESTINE PRINT ISSUE

The Palestine Issue is an attempt to preserve the memory of Palestine—its people and their voices, memories, and history. It also aims to amplify the joyful crevices; the hopes and dreams that make Palestinian liberation within reach. Fargo Tbakhi says the speculative “is real as dirt”, so, through a tender gaze, we dream this issue to be an attempt to archive—or birth a new archive—for Palestine.

Deadline: March 30th, 2023

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • This issue is only open for Palestinians. If you are not Palestinian, kindly refrain from submitting but keep a lookout for other opportunities we call out for in the future!

  • Submissions are accepted in Arabic and English.

  • We accept original, previously unpublished works—this means simultaneous submissions are fine, but please inform us immediately if your work has been accepted elsewhere.

  • For writing, please do not send more than 3 submissions (this includes poetry), but do send them in a .doc or .docx file. PDFs can get a little wonky once we start editing, so try your best not to send us one.

  • For art, please send us more than 3 pictures in a .png, .jpg, or .jpeg file, along with a description of 3-10 sentences.

  • There are limited spaces for this issue, but creatives will be compensated $20 each.

  • Unless you are facing technical difficulties with the submission form, please do not send your work via email as it will not be considered.

SOME THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

We try our best to get back to our contributors as soon as we can, but please give us a 4-8 week turnaround time after the deadline. We’re a small team led by youth, mainly students, so please bear with us as we navigate the high volume of submissions. If you do not hear back from us by the 8th week, kindly reach out via email.
